...to the Shimna Camera Club.

We are a small group of enthusiastic photographers in County Down with the desire to constantly improve our skills to capture the perfect photograph.

Anyone is welcome whether you own the latest, high tech DSLR or simply want to improve your skills with your camera phone.

We meet at the Newcastle Leisure Centre at 7.30 on alternate Monday evenings, starting early September and usually finishing the following Spring.

Our meetings are very informal and we encourage everyone to take part whatever experience level they may have.

Come along to one of our meetings and you will be made very welcome. We will even give you a cup of tea or coffee!

Next club meeting is next Monday evening, the 8th, at 7.30 in the Newcastle Centre.
Could we bring along our cameras and tripods?
Plan is, weather permitting, we get out on to the prom and try to take a few long exposure shots. If you haven't tried it before its great fun. Light trails, etc. If you are new to it and not sure how to do it there'll be plenty of advice on hand.
Club competition is 'Three of a kind' and entries in by midnight this Friday to the usual email address. If you aren't sure what it is, you'll find it on the program sheet in the 'Club Program 2018/19' page.
A reminder that we will need to book our weekend to Donegal soon. So we'll need an idea of numbers and what dates will suit all going.
If you're not yet a member, come along with your camera and see what we do. Not too late to book onto the club weekend either.

New club year for 2018/19!

First meeting for the new 2018/19 club year starts on Monday evening the 10th of September at 7.30 in Newcastle Leisure Centre.

We're looking forward to welcoming back all our past members and particularly looking forward to seeing new faces at the club meetings. Doesn't matter what level you are at in your photography, all that we ask is to bring whatever you use and your enthusiasm to improve your skills.

We have some great plans for the club year including a club exhibition and some training sessions from a professional photographer. It's intended to organise another camera club weekend photo shoot for next Spring.

Our first club weekend last Spring was to the west coast of Ireland when ten members attended and all had a great time taking photographs and having good craic. Think it could be even more popular this year.

So if you want to improve your camera skills and have a bit of fun and chat, come along to the Shimna Camera Club and find out what its all about.

Any questions, get in touch through the contact page on this website.

Be Encouraged!

Most people are scared to go to a 'real' camera club because when they look at work that club members show, they can be a bit intimidated.

We all had to start somewhere and all we want is your enthusiasm.

Develop New Skills

Get a new DSLR as a present but still just taking 'snaps' of the family?
